Lowering the Barrier, Raising the Bar: Inclusive DevOps Training for the Age of AI

About this session

DevOps Academy is an Erasmus+ project that opens DevOps careers to people who are underrepresented in tech, especially women. Partners from Portugal, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Belgium and Austria are building a free, practice-based training program that takes learners from their first Bash scripts to containers, pipelines and incident response.

In this session, we introduce the Academy: who it is for, how the program works, and what makes it different. We also show how AI is built into the training, from a dedicated week on AI-assisted DevOps, to an AI Validation Log that learners keep throughout the program. Both are built around one simple habit: use AI, but always check it.

Because in the age of AI, DevOps skills matter more, not less. You can only verify what you understand.

Key takeaways

  • Lowering the barrier. How DevOps Academy opens DevOps careers to women and other groups underrepresented in tech, with AI as a learning partner that helps newcomers learn at their own pace and build confidence.
  • Raising the bar. Why learners must test, review and correct everything AI produces, and how the training builds a “use AI, but always check it” habit into every module.
  • Inclusion and strong skills go together. Opening the door is only half the job; solid DevOps fundamentals are what help new talent stay and grow in the age of AI.
