Connect an asset model to timestamped observations and a separate simulation model. Compare predicted and observed behavior, document assumptions, and inspect t

A digital twin represents an asset or environment and its relationships, with observations used to maintain relevant state. A simulation predicts behavior under defined assumptions. Azure Digital Twins documents entity graphs and event-driven updates; FMI provides an interface for exchanging dynamic simulation models.
A useful learning project connects these ideas explicitly. Model a small system, attach timestamped observations, and compare a simulation with recorded behavior. A visually convincing model does not establish that its predictions are accurate or that it should control physical equipment.
Visualization can help inspection, but validation requires an explicit model, reliable observations, and evidence that the model supports its intended use.
