Prepare medical image volumes, inspect spatial transforms, and evaluate a segmentation experiment with patient-level data separation. Learn to document imaging

Medical image processing includes preparing image volumes, transforming their geometry, and assessing outputs such as segmentation masks. MONAI provides tutorials for medical data loading, transforms, and 3D segmentation. Begin with an openly available tutorial dataset whose terms permit your intended exercise.
Inspect voxel spacing, orientation, and label alignment before training. Split by patient or study where appropriate so correlated images do not leak across evaluation sets. Report failures and dataset limits alongside metrics; tutorial performance is not evidence of clinical suitability.
Volumes, acquisition metadata, patient grouping, and clinical context introduce concerns that a generic image classifier tutorial may not address.
