Amazon Forecast is a managed service for importing time-series data, training predictors, and generating forecasts. AWS closed access to new customers in July 2024. Existing users can consult the service documentation, but new projects need to evaluate another forecasting approach.
For an existing demand-planning workflow, retain the input schema, forecast horizon, backtest windows, and business error measure. Evaluate a replacement on the same historical periods and include stockouts, promotions, and missing observations. A lower aggregate error does not automatically mean better decisions for every item.
AWS documents that Forecast is no longer available to new customers. Do not plan new access based on older getting-started examples.
Keep the input data, time splits, forecast horizon, and error measure consistent. Inspect errors for important product groups as well as the overall score.
