Azure IoT Edge is a runtime for containerized Linux applications on devices. An edge module can process sensor data or run inference near the equipment, while cloud tooling manages deployments. IoT Edge itself does not supply a model that understands your machinery.
Prototype one module on the intended device class. Measure latency, memory use, restart behavior, and what happens when connectivity is lost. Pin the runtime and model versions, and rehearse a rollback before using the module in an operational workflow.
It is a runtime. You deploy a suitable analytics or inference module and evaluate that workload separately.
Test normal operation, network loss, restarts, resource limits, and rollback on representative hardware before scaling the deployment.
